This year marks a significant milestone for Lake Engines and Auto Repairs Ltd as we reflect on a journey in business that has spanned more than 40 years, and share the exciting news of the acquisition of Lake Engines by Morrell Motors.

Much has happened since Lake Engines and Auto Repairs was established in 1981. We acquired Ray Mac Motors and took on a small team and client base, including fleet vehicles for Winstones, Telecom and Ministry of Works to name a few. Many of our original customers in the 80s still remain loyal customers, today.

Over the years, we have supported dozens of technicians to complete their professional training, developed and expanded our infrastructure to meet market needs, increased digitization and automation, and kept up with technology-driven trends in the sector, including more diverse mobility, autonomous driving, electrification, and connectivity.

Like many businesses, we have had our share of ups and downs over the past 40 years, including more recently a couple of turbulent years with Covid-19 lockdowns, market pressures and increasing costs. However, we have remained resilient and kept our focus on one key goal: striving to deliver highquality, professional automotive services to our customers.

Now, it is time for Lyn and Graham Church to enjoy more quality time with family and friends as they head towards a well-deserved retirement.

The next chapter

The dedicated team of professionals will now offer two fully equipped, secure Service Departments with the latest diagnostic equipment, air conditioning servicing, batteries, tyres, genuine parts etc and can accommodate all vehicles through to Motorhomes and light commercials. Morrell Motors is Taupo’s one stop motoring shop!
